People come to Stony Cove to read a book while listening to the loons, to jump off a big rock into the clear lake, to paddle a kayak along evergreen shorelines, to make s’mores over a fire pit, to hike to the top of Mount Kineo, to raft down a river, to go on a moose safari, to ski Squaw Mountain, or to go snowmobiling with friends.  Stony Cove is place where memories and friends are made — and they last a lifetime.

Lower Wilson Pond is a spacious 1,380 acres with a depth of up to 106 feet centered around Rum Mountain and overshadowed by the Scammon Ridge and Elephant Mountain.  A narrows connects Lower and Upper Wilson Pond.  Both ponds are fished for brook trout, lake trout, and land-locked salmon and those pesky white perch.

The Moosehead Lake Region encompasses an area of 4,400 square miles, including 625 lakes and ponds 10 acres or larger and 655 ponds less than 10 acres as well as 4,200 miles of rivers and streams that comprise the headwaters of the Kennebec, Penobscot, and St. Johns rivers.

Greenville is a small town where people still line the streets for the Fourth of July parade and stick around for the fireworks.  There are festivals throughout the year and, only three miles from Stony Cove, the restaurants, shops, and Indian Hill Trading Post are all easily accessible.
